Preparing for a family portrait photoshoot can help ensure that you capture beautiful and memorable images. Here are some steps to consider when preparing for a family portrait photoshoot:

Date and Location:

  • Decide on a date and time for the photoshoot. Consider the best time of day for natural lighting, typically early morning or late afternoon. On a sunny mid-day the light is harsh and generally challenging to produce natural photographs, however as a seasoned photographers we can handle those challenges as well. Overcast days are perfect for us.
  • Choose a location that holds meaning for your family, such as a park, beach, your home, or a picturesque outdoor setting. Sydney has abundant number of beautiful places we can chose as shooting location. We can discuss the location based upon our preference, accessibility and type of environment you are after.

Coordinate Outfits:

  • Plan your family’s outfits in advance. Coordinated but not overly matching outfits can enhance the overall look of the photos.
  • Consider colors that complement each other and the location’s surroundings.
  • Avoid distracting patterns or logos, and opt for timeless, classic styles.
  • Make sure everyone is comfortable in their chosen outfits.
  • Shoes are equally important to match your outfits. Don’t be afraid to dress up full formal.
  • All our chosen locations will have limited access to change rooms. However special arrangements can be made on priority basis.

Hair and Makeup:

  • If desired, arrange for hair and makeup styling for family members to look their best.
  • Keep makeup and hairstyles natural and in line with your family’s usual appearance.
  • We donot usually provide a make-up and hairstyle artist unless indoor, however if you need any special assistance or tools to help you on the spot, discuss prior.

Props and Personal Items:

  • Consider bringing meaningful props or items that represent your family’s interests or hobbies.
  • Toys, instruments, or even a beloved pet can add personality to the photos.

Relax and Have Fun:

  • Keep the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. Genuine smiles and interactions often result in the best photos.
  • Let the photographer guide you through poses, but also be open to candid moments.

Patience:

  • Understand that not every shot will be perfect, and it may take time to capture the ideal moments. Trust your photographer’s expertise.
